Healthcare
Over the past 14 years, Daybreak has engaged in several different activities designed to respond to the physical and health needs of the Zambia people (especially those in the rural villages). Daybreak has conducted both small and large-scale Medical Missions (combining up to as many as 30 American and 30 Zambian healthcare workers at a time). These have included general medicine, optical and dental care (see the sub-menu tabs for additional information).
In recent years Daybreak has begun to shift to efforts that are designed to provide more continuous, long-term healthcare. Daybreak has initiated efforts to train our students in basic healthcare (so they might serve as Village Healthcare Officers) and to focus more on preventive healthcare We continue our efforts in Optical and Dental Care, along with HIV-AIDS prevention; but we also want to expand our effort to include nutition, food-preservation, santitation, malaria prevention, and other such essential healthcare efforts.
