Education Program
One-half of the population of Zambia is under 18 years of age. With this many children it is near impossible for the government of a poor country such as Zambia to build enough schools and hire enough certified/trained teachers. Hence, many villages and local communities have found it necessary to organize and build their own Community Schools. This, however, presents a serious challenge for many local communities who either do not have the "know-how" and/or the availability of local people capable of serving as teachers.
Daybreak has been has been developing a ministry to help meet this need. Daybreak has developed a training program for Community School Teachers and has started training Teacher-Trainers who will be able to train local people to serve as Community School Teachers. Daybreak has also started a Christian Primary School (K-7) on the Daybreak Campus (picture below): Aurora Christian Academy. This facility not only provides a school for the local community, but it also serves as a vehicle by which DBC students and their wives can be trained to be Community School teachers when they return home.
For more information about the school, go to the webpage for Aurora Christian Academy (click here).
Primary Schools (Sonadi)
Daybreak has started two Primary Schools in the Sonadi area (see two pictures above and the picture below).
Teacher Training Program
There is a great need in Zambia to train Community School Teachers. Presently there is no certified training program for this purpose. Daybreak is working to develop a training program in order to train DBC students and their wives so that they might be able to serves as Community School teachers when they return home after graduation.
Community School Development
Starting a community school in a local village is a major challange for most villages. Organizing the village to build, manage and fund a local school requires organization skills that few have. Part of the training program at Daybreak is designed to help students in learn how they can start, managed and fund a successful Community School.
